Animatic Storyboard And Evaluation

I haven't made an animatic storyboard before, but seeing as this was my first attempt I thought it went pretty well. After completing our storyboards we filmed the single still shots together as a group, recording each still for 10 seconds each. Then we uploaded the stills and cut them together to build the animatic by using Final Cut Pro. At the start a few editing things went wrong, due to timings being wrong. Later I went over it and sorted it out and finished the job. It was different editing this compared to my thriller because I had to edit to a up beat dance track which had lots of different cuts, where as my thriller had pretty basic cuts that weren't fast changing. This editing exercise was of course fun but in some parts very difficult. Matching the cuts to the beat was easy but in some parts there wasn't any drums so I had to try and time the cuts in precisely to the words or a chord pattern change, this is what I had difficulty with. If I was to edit the storyboard again I feel I would of tried to edit some cuts a lot better and I would of spent more time on this. However this time I didn't have much time and I was under a lot of pressure to turn over the edited storyboard quickly. The demand of it being done quickly gave me an insight into what Professional Editors have to deal with in the industry which was very useful. Hopefully after experience with using Final Cut Pro I will be better and quicker at editing in such a short space of time. Overall, I was very happy with our animatic, as its a very good first idea for our video. Despite our ideas having changed slightly, it helps to give a good picture of our idea well. I surprisingly enjoyed editing the stills together and this exercise gave me extra experience with Final Cut Pro. I look forward to editing the real footage. When editing the footage I will make sure that the cut transitions are precise and on beat to the track and cut smoothly and work well and make sense to our narrative behind our music video.
